Going To a Concert While On Vacation

Many factors are considered when going on a vacation. Hotels, restaurants and places of interest often top the list of what’s important in choosing where to go and what to do when you get there.

Many vacations are planned with the sole intent of relaxation. Beach resorts, casinos, boating, fishing and night life are all considerations when planning and taking a vacation. Many people love seeking out local culture, museums and shopping as well.

Some people love seeing live concerts while on vacation. This is a great way to explore local music venues. Music lovers enjoy seeing concerts at various halls or theaters because often the acoustics, seating and local weather impact the enjoyment of the music. Outdoor concerts in warmer climates can be wonderful and completely liberating on a beautiful and breezy summer evening.

When planning a vacation, you may want to consider what venues for live music are near where you will be staying. On occasion, a very unique theater may be nearby or within a short travel distance to your main destination. From there, you can easily find a phone number to call or a website to check the music calendar for the venue. Often concerts are booked months in advance and finding out who will be playing there is quite simple. Obtaining tickets for a particular show is also rather simple with a credit card either on their website or calling the box office.

Many concert halls have seating charts available for viewing online, so that it is easy to find out where certain seats are located in relation to the stage. This is a great idea to view before ordering, so you’ll know exactly what sections seats are available and at what prices. The websites also include additional helpful information such as handicap access, availability of refreshments and parking information.

Seeing a concert while away from home can add to the festive atmosphere of a vacation.

Musical Gift Ideas

Musical gifts ideas are not hard to come by. There are many different music gifts that you can give your music lover or musician. To begin with, you should always know where their interests are in music. Even music lovers can be given a bad musical gift, provided their interest is not with the gift that you give them.

Here are some musical gift ideas to consider:

Give them a musical instrument

This one you should be careful with. Make sure that they want to learn to play that instrument, before you go out and buy it for them. If they already play an instrument, then you could get them something will help them with playing. For example, you could get them a book of songs for the instrument they play.

Get them a CD of their favorite musicians

First, you want to be sure that they do not have the CD. Especially if they are a fan of that band, then they might already have the CD. If they do not, then you can go out and buy that CD for them.

Concert tickets to their favorite band

Whatever band they like if you get them concert tickets to that band, they will love you for it. Concert tickets are a safe choice, because you do not have to worry about them already having it. There are few people who do not want to go and see their favorite band perform live. This also creates a positive memory that they will never forget.

Get them a t-shirt of their favorite band

If they like a certain band, then getting them a t-shirt of that band is usually a safe gift. You usually will know if they have worn a particular t-shirt before. The cool thing about many band t-shirts is that they are usually well designed and look amazing.

Collectibles of your favorite band

This is a good choice, and it can even start a new hobby for your music lover or musician. Simply pick a band that they enjoy and get them something that is a collectible for that band.

Getting your loved one a musical gift should be based on their musical taste. It is also important to make sure that they do not already have what you are giving them. This will save both sides from feeling disappointment. Musical gifts make good gifts because there is almost no one who hates music.

Music Legend Deaths That Changed the World

Music legend deaths that changed the world began when the roots of rock and roll first began to shape the industry. Many of the iconic music legends that met an untimely end were just getting started with only one hit under their belt. Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper and Ritchie Valens made headlines on February 3, 1959 when the three young men died tragically in a small plane crash as they were en-route to their next gig. Forever remembered as “The Day the Music Died”, that moment in time has been immortalized with films, tributes and was the inspiration of Don McLean’s “American Pie”.

Funerals of these fallen music legends are massive, televised events.  Millions of people mourn their beloved artists and people add on to their wooden caskets with pictures, roses or any other items that represent those that have passed.

The 1960′s ushered in a wave of British and American artists, many of which died before they reached thirty years old. Bass player Stuartt Sutcliffe died in 1962 of a cerebral paralysis and was the first official member of The Beatles to pass away. Drummer Pete Best was replaced by Ringo Starr, and the Fab Four that would make musical history was born.

By the 1970′s, rock and roll had made its mark on the music industry and gave us that classic rock sound that is unequaled today. However many of the early artists were reckless with drugs and alcohol, often taking out at least one vital member of some of the best bands in history. When Led Zeppelin lost their talented drummer, John Bonham, the group refused to continue without him and disbanded. The world will never know how far Led Zeppelin could have pushed their creativity and continued to crank out the hits. Other notable names that left an empty void in their wake include Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, Keith Moon, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Croce, Cass Elliot, Sid Vicious and dozens more.

The 1980′s music scene slipped into New Wave and club mixes geared for the dance floor. Innovated and wonderfully creative, the 1980′s music scene was shaped by individual artists that used their own name branding to separate themselves from their bands. The decade lost John Lennon in 1980 and other independent music notables to follow include Bob Marley, Harry Chapin, and John Belushi from the Blues Brothers.

Music artists that die in the prime of life leave behind a question mark as to what might have been. Often when a band mate dies, a group is no longer able to write and record. When the solo artist departs, the industry must adjust to the loss. Remembering a legend’s death helps a new generation to shape the music industry with nostalgic lyrics, revamping a certain sound and keeping the music icons up on the pedestal where they belong.

How Music CDs Are Made

Look around you; you will admit that technology has truly changed a lot of things around for the better. Take music as a good example. Music has gone through a lot of metamorphosis since time in memorial. From the gramophone record player, the cassette record player and now in the 21st century, the compact disc player, quite some revolution you’ll agree.

Music is soothing and very entertaining to anyone. Different people prefer different genre of music. Some love jazz, others prefer rock music while others R&B does the trick on them. Where ever you go in shopping malls, public offices, in the car or even at home, you can’t miss some soothing music tunes playing from some digital player. This means that one must have sufficient stock of music CDs to ensure that they don’t run out of music.

How to make a music CD is something that many would like to know. Truth is it’s not hard to make one at all. There are two ways one can use to make some nice music on a compact disc. You can make music on macs or on a pc. Making music on mac is easy and pretty interesting. You need to open iTunes for the latest music files that may interest you. Click on the file and select the new playlist with your favorite choice of music. A new playlist of selected custom music will then appear which you shall name as preferred. Transfer the music file to add to file icon and click on the playlist to arrange you music files in order. Click on the cd burning icon, choose audio CD and burn music on the empty CD inserted. Upon completion of the burning process, you will have successfully made a music CD.

The alternative way is making music CD on a pc. It takes a shorter period of time and is less complicated. All you have to do is create a file with all your favorite music in it. Import all your music on the windows media player and by clicking the ok icon the music will be transferred to the windows media player playlist. After arranging all the music as preferred, drop them into the burn list and when ready, click on the start burn icon. Your music will then be transferred from media player to the blank CD and when finished, you’ll have made you very own music CD.

Best Songs For A Relaxing Winter Night

When winds pick up in November, and an icy pall is cast upon a greater part of the world, it’s wonderful to make a steaming cup of a favorite beverage, and put some great winter songs on the stereo to help warm things up. Sit and enjoy watching the flames lap at the logs in the fireplace, hold a steaming cup of warmth and watch the snow gently fall while listening to great music. This is what warm Winter dreams are made of.

Some of the outstanding songs with winter themes are the older tunes from the 1950′s and 1960′s. From the warmth in Dean Martin’s baritone as he sings “Baby It’s Cold Outside” to a more recent cover of the same song in 2009 done by the band Lady Antebellum, this song is a sentimental tune about not wanting to say goodbye to the one you love on a cold night.

Simon and Garfunkel had an outstanding version of “Hazy Shade Of Winter” from 1967 which is a beautiful warmth filled tune. Sarah McLachlan’s stellar version of the Gordon Lightfoot song “Song For A Winter’s Night” can almost assure goosebumps, even when it is warm and cozy in the room in which one is listening to these fantastic winter songs.

When Anne Murray sings “Snowbird,” her wonderful tune featuring a beautiful melody from 1969, one is transported with her to the scene of a beautiful snowbird that “speaks to me of flowers that will bloom again in Spring.” There is something very special when a warmth filled song about the beautiful and serene Winter season can transport a person to a cozier and more sentimental time.

Even rock bands have done some nice Winter songs like the Rolling Stones with their version of “Winter” from 1973, and the REO Speedwagon song about winter in the Rocky Mountains called “Ridin’ The Storm Out.” Even the enormously talented group “Queen” featured a song in November of 1995 called “A Winter’s Tale.”

In more recent memory, Carrie Underwood released a beautiful song called “Jesus Take The Wheel” about driving on a “thin black sheet of ice” with a baby in the back seat. Music has always been able to touch our hearts and depict things that are happening to us in life. Words are creatively used like painter’s canvas to paint beautiful and serene winter scenes, warming even the coldest Winter’s day.
